The
Hotel Abbazia is located in a restored part of the old monastery
of the Discalced Carmelite Friars, opposite the Church of Santa Maria
di Nazaret (also known as the Church of the Scalzi).
It
retains the charm and atmosphere of the former monastery, while offering
all modern comforts and ample space for guests to relax. The rooms and
communal areas have recently been restored and further embellished with
high quality decorations and upholstery.
After
the Reception Desk on the left is the former monks' refectory, now used
as a great hall and dominated by the pulpit. There is a bar open round
the clock and comfortable sofas where you can relax and read the numerous
newspapers available.
The
refectory hall leads to the wing on three floors housing some of the
hotel's 50 rooms, all obtained from the monks' cells. The ground floor
provides access to the external garden and the breakfast room, via the
wash house.
The
most modern part of the hotel is on the left of the Reception Desk.
Recently constructed wooden stairs lead to the top floors with other
rooms and a number of suites with a view over the Grand Canal or the
monastery's vegetable gardens.
